WHERE ARE THE COURSES LOCATED Our courses are based in a private woodland in the heart of Somerset, near the town of Glastonbury. The exact location will be emailed to you after booking.
HOW TO BOOK We will require a small non-refundable deposit of 10% of the cost of the course to secure your place and the remainder is due 14 days before the course date at the latest. You can pay by postal order, on-line transfer, Paypal or debit/credit card.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BRING? No equipment is required, just sensible clothing. Appropriate footwear is really quite important, preferably hard wearing boots, hiking shoes or wellington boots. Sandals and trainers are not a good idea as we will be working with knives and fire. You should also consider your trousers and jacket and ensure you wear enough to keep yourself warm and dry whilst away from our main shelter. You may also wish to bring work gloves for handling and gathering wood.
DO I NEED PRIOR EXPERIENCE? Absolutely not! All you need is the ‘I’ll give it a go’ attitude and you’ll have a great time with us. We do offer more advanced courses to gain a deeper understanding of bushcraft skills as well as bespoke courses to meet your requirements, so all of our courses can be enjoyed by anyone. We give you all the instruction and support you need so you don’t need any previous experience.
ARE THERE ANY COURSE RESTRICTIONS? We try to make all courses as assessable to everyone as possible. For adult courses anyone under the age of 16 needs to be under the supervision of a responsible adult. If you have a medical condition /disability; please talk to us so we can advise on the suitability of the course and location. We do insist that all attendees come ready to have a great time!
WHERE ARE THE COURSES? We try to protect the details of our rural and south Somerset locations so that they remain special venues to visit and host courses however course location (rural or south) is mentioned on the course description. Further details of how exactly to get to us are emailed on booking. Do email us for further clarification if needed.
SANITATION & HYGIENE Don’t worry….we have purpose-built woodland style compost toilets on site and also have a fresh water tap as well as antibacterial hand sanitiser! It might be a bushcraft course but hygiene is important to us so we are pleased to offer you more than a tree!
CAN I ATTEND ON MY OWN? We find that the majority of our seasonal course guests are adventurous individuals who want to learn more. Making friends on our courses is to be expected as we welcome people with a common interest to enjoy our activities and participate in fun team-building challenges.
WHAT ABOUT BAD WEATHER? Courses are rarely cancelled unless there is a risk to personal safety. If high winds the night before or forecast during the course we may decide to cancel in which case you will be notified and will be given a full refund or will have the opportunity to re-book onto a course at a later date.
WHAT WILL I BE EATING? We will provide food on the majority of our courses. There is a strong aim to get you farmiliar with our caveman style of eating. Ehat we mean is that there will almost always be something to pluck, gut or butcher. If you are a herbivore then please let us know in advance when plaxcing your booking and we will ensure you are well catered for.
FOOD AND DIETARY REQUIREMENTS We love to share our passion for cooking over fire and wherever possible use the meat we have prepared that day or have in stock. This will usually involve small game and wild foraged food. We will assume you are a meat eater unless you advise us otherwise at time of booking – but either way you will have a hearty meal to ensure you are fuelled up for the remainder of the day.
I WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL MY COURSE You can cancel your course at anytime, up to 14 days before the course date. Cancellations within 14 days of the course date will not receive a refund. This is due to the overheads involved with staff, materials and other essentials. You are welcome to postpone your course to another convenient date before the 14 day period to ensure you don’t miss out on the experience.
PLEASE DON’T We don’t like imposing unnecessary rules however for the safety of you, other guests and ourselves we ask that you don’t bring any knives, pets or tools, you are not under the influence of drink or drugs, and you obey the instructors at all times, in all situations. Failure to meet any of these requirements may result in termination of your participation.
WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, WE HOPE TO SEE YOU IN OUR WOODLAND VERY SOON
